Foreign Characters in SSD5.5/Trigger 2 Library Path

SSD5.5 and Trigger 2 users should be aware that the file path to their library folders cannot contain any foreign characters outside of the standard. This includes both non-Latin and accented characters (e.g., Japanese, Spanish, Cyrillic, Arabic, etc.) in any of the folder or file names within the file path.

Users can check whether this is the case for them by going to the "Settings" tab in their SSD5.5/Trigger 2 plugin, and checking the file path next to the "Select Base Dir" plugin.

If there are foreign characters in the file path (even if it is in your username) this will confuse SSD5.5/Trigger 2 and can lead to errors such as:

  • Sounds not loading
  • Sounds giving error messages in red when trying to load
  • "Base Directory cannot be found" message in SSD5.5

Solution:

The first solution is for users to identify the file/folder in the library file path with foreign characters, and then rename the file/folder so it only contains characters in the English alphabet.

Alternatively, users can move their library to a location that doesn't contain any foreign characters. Then, log in to the Slate Audio Center and go to your SSD5.5 or Trigger product page. Hit the arrow next to "Re-install" and hit "locate existing library". Then locate your SSD5Library or Trigger2 Library folder.
