The following is a tutorial for setting up SSD5.5 in Multi-Out mode in Reaper. For ease, a template session is included at the bottom of the article.
- Instantiate SSD5 on an Instrument Track in Luna, then open the SSD5 plug-in window.
Go to the "Create" tab in the SSD5 plug-in, and click the "Kits" button. Then load kit preset by double-clicking on the preset.
You should now see the drum-kit GUI populate and no longer be translucent.
2. Go to the "Mix" tab in SSD5 now, and click where it says "Out 1 ST" at the bottom of the mixer channel. Set the output for your tracks in SSD5 to the appropriate track in the SSD5 Mixer.
- In this example, all Kick samples will be routed to "out 2 st", the snare will be routed to "out 3 st", etc.
3. Next, go to the upper left of the SSD5 plugin window, and click the "+" button. This will bring up a prompt to add multi-out outputs in Luna for SSD5. Select the desired number of outs, then hit "ADD".
4. Now you will see however many multi-out tracks you chose to create, are now in the timeline.
You will notice that "Out 2 St" in the SSD5 Mixer corresponds to "MULTI 1" in Luna, "Out 3 St" to "MULTI 2", etc.
Now, rename each multi-out track according to the contents. In our case, we did the following configuration:
- Kick
- Snare
- Toms
- Ride
- HH
- OH
- Room
Now if you play your SSD5 kit, you will notice that the various instruments/mic captures are only coming in their respective out.
Template Session:
Included is a template Luna session with everything we set up in this article already configured, so users can get multi-out routing set up instantaneously.
