The following is a tutorial for setting up SSD5.5 in Multi-Out mode in Reaper. For ease, a template session is included below.
- Open a new Reaper session. Then in the menu bar, go to Track → Insert Virtual Instrument on new track.
Then on the pop-up instrument menu, search for and select "SSDSampler5". Please note that VST2, VST3, AU (mac only) will all work with multi-out.
NOTE: When prompted, please make sure to hit yes for the "Building-routing configuration" prompt.
2. Users will now see the SSD5.5 instrument track (called "SSDSampler5") along with a bunch of output tracks. These tracks will be used for Multi-out.
Please open SSD5.5 and go to the Create tab. Then double-click on a kit preset to load it.
Note: If the drum-kit GUI is still see-through, then a kit has not yet been loaded.
3. Now, you will need to go to the Mixer tab in SSD5.5. Once there, click under where it says "Routing Preset" and choose the preset "Everything on its own stereo". If you look at the bottom of the mixer faders, you will now see that the different instrument channels are now routed to different outs (Kick mics to Out 1 st, Snare mics to Out 2 st, etc.) whereas before, everything was routed to Out st 1.
4. If you go back to output tracks that were created automatically, you will now see that the Output #1 track in Reaper corresponds to Out 1 st in the SSD5.5 Mixer tab, and so on. If you like, you can rename your output tracks in Reaper accordingly.
Template:
For users' convenience, a Reaper project with this exact multi-out configuration already set up is attached below. It can be used as a template.
